Bolivar High School 2026 Hall of Fame Inductees
Bolivar High School is proud to announce the 2026 inductees into its prestigious Hall of Fame. Each year, this honor recognizes Bolivar High School alumni who have made outstanding contributions to the school, the Bolivar community, and beyond. These individuals exemplify the spirit, dedication, and excellence that define Bolivar High School, and we are thrilled to celebrate their achievements and welcome them into this distinguished legacy. These inductees will be recognized during the Bolivar High School Homecoming festivities on Friday, September 18th. The inductees will attend the Homecoming pep assembly, ride in the Homecoming parade, be honored at a Hall of Fame dinner, and be recognized at halftime of the Homecoming football game.
Robert "Bob" Hammons established a strong legacy of athletic excellence at Bolivar High School, serving as a starting guard on the Liberators' historic 1960 State Championship basketball team—the only state title team in school history. Recognized for his skill on the court, Hammons earned All-Ozark basketball honors in 1961 and was selected to represent BHS at Missouri Boys State.
Upon graduating from BHS, Hammons earned a basketball scholarship to Southwest Missouri State before completing his bachelor's degree at the University of Missouri. He answered the call to service from 1966 to 1972 in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, later obtaining a Master’s degree in School Administration from Drury University. Hammons built an impactful career in athletics as head basketball coach at Buffalo High School—leading the Bison to a 3rd place state finish in 1970—and at Hillcrest High School. For nearly three decades (1969–1996), he officiated state tournament games in basketball and football, while also organizing premier midwestern youth athletic tournaments. Alongside his contributions to sports, Hammons founded a State Farm Insurance agency in 1981, building a respected 40-plus-year business career. A 2025 inductee into the Tournament of Champions Hall of Fame, he has spent decades serving in civic organizations such as the Rotary Club, the Springfield Tip Off Club, and the Drury Boosters.

Russell Jackson - Class of 1983
At Bolivar High School, Russell Jackson excelled at a variety of activities. In his senior year, he was Student Body President, lead actor in the school play, and Missouri State President of Future Teachers of America. Throughout high school, he was an award-winning singer and trombonist and a member of student government. Jackson accumulated the most speech and debate trophies of any student in BHS history, excelling across speaking and interpretation events, as well as debate.
Jackson continued his record-setting trajectory at Southwest Baptist University, graduating as valedictorian with the faculty-awarded Life Beautiful Award. He accumulated the most speech and debate trophies in SBU history; in his senior year, he earned 3 first-place awards at the Pi Kappa Delta National Tournament and the 2nd Place Pentathlon award at the National Individual Events Tournament.
Jackson graduated with honors from William & Mary School of Law, where he was on two law reviews. He spent 23 years practicing mass tort law in New York City, where he was a partner at Skadden Arps (NYC’s largest law firm), a columnist for the National Law Journal, and taught products liability at Brooklyn Law School. He is an elected member of the prestigious American Law Institute. Upon his return to Missouri, Jackson became partner at a litigation firm in St. Louis and taught aggregate litigation for a decade at Washington University School of Law. Today, he is Global Vice President of Legal Policy at Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world’s largest brewer.
Jackson has always been a civic leader. He was Chairman of the Board for Jazz St. Louis, a board member for St. Louis Public Radio, and currently serves as a trustee of the St. Louis Public Library Foundation. He remains dedicated to Bolivar and those who taught him while he lived here. In the last decade, Jackson has used his legal skills to advocate for academic freedom for faculty and students at SBU and to prevent the school’s transfer of ownership to the Missouri Baptist Convention.

Dr. Lynn Coffey - Class of 1987
As a student at Bolivar High School, Dr. Coffey was heavily involved in FFA, FBLA, Band, Choir, and various sports. Through those activities, he developed a strong passion for education, mentorship, and community service that would come to define his life's work. A proud Liberator alumnus and lifelong Bolivar resident, his high school experiences laid the foundation for more than three decades of leadership in public education.
After completing his undergraduate and Master's degrees at Missouri State University, Dr. Coffey earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Southwest Baptist University. He spent 30 years with Springfield Public Schools, 27 at Kickapoo High School, serving as a business teacher, Department Chair, and College and Career Readiness Administrator. During his tenure, he created the "Kickapoo University" choice program, directed a student volunteerism effort that logged over 16,000 community service hours annually, and served for over 20 years as the "Voice of the Chiefs" sports announcer.
As an FBLA adviser for 25 years, Dr. Coffey built one of the most successful chapters in the nation, guiding students to 567 district awards, 412 state placements, and 7 national championships. His accolades include 2016 Missouri FBLA Adviser of the Year, 2018 Springfield Business Journal Employee of the Year (the first educator to receive the honor), and a 2025 induction onto the National FBLA Adviser Wall of Fame. In retirement, Dr. Coffey continues his commitment to local education as an elected member of the Bolivar R-1 School Board, an OTC adjunct faculty member, an MSU student-teacher supervisor, and an active local volunteer.
