The purpose of this newsletter is to celebrate the outstanding work that our students and staff are doing in each of our schools, provide district-level updates, and notify you about important upcoming events.

Celebrating the Class of 2026
On Sunday, May 17th, we celebrated the graduation of Bolivar High School seniors. The ceremony welcomed nearly 3,000 patrons and celebrated a staggering $9.2 million earned in student scholarships. Rewatch the ceremony livestream.
Summer School
Summer School runs from Thursday, May 28th, until Wednesday, June 24th. Below are the start and end times for each school building.National Champion Entomology Team!
Congratulations to our BHS FFA Entomology team of Ellie Samek, Makayla Methvin, Astra Beachy, and Kory Pauley, were crowned 2026 National Entomology Champions at the National FFA Invitational held at Tarleton State University.
Bolivar High School Hall of Fame Nominations Open
Nominations are being accepted for the Bolivar High School Hall of Fame! The deadline to enter a nomination is July 3rd.
Here are the criteria:
-Must be a graduate of Bolivar High School (or at least must have attended two years. Prior to advanced placement or dual enrollment in college, some students left high school after three years to attend college.)
-Must have a record of significant and consistent professional and personal achievement.  Achievement may be in a variety of fields and may include volunteer activities.
-Should demonstrate a commitment to community involvement.
-Should demonstrate involvement with family and/or volunteer organizations.
-Nominations should include a letter or letters of support as well as documents of support such as resumes, newspaper articles, pictures, etc.  Nominations are encouraged from BHS alumni, family, friends, or professional colleagues. 
-Nominations must include the nominee's name, address, phone number, and the year of graduation/or years the nominee attended BHS in addition to the name, address, and phone number of the person making the nomination.
You may drop off your nomination or mail it to the Bolivar Schools Central Office at 524 W. Madison Street. If you have any questions, please email communications@bolivarschools.org.

9 Students, 1.6 Million Dollars
Nine of our Bolivar High School seniors have been named 2026 Hagan Scholars! This is one of the most prestigious scholarships in the nation, valued at over $180,000 per student.
That’s a total of $1,620,000 in scholarship potential for these Liberators! 
A massive congratulations to:
Aileen Siegfried, Ellaina Porter, Kami Bryan, Wyatt Campbell, Emma Howes, Heidi Roweton, Owen Thiessen, Kai Thiessen, & Josie Thomas!

2nd and 4th in the Nation

Congratulations to our BHS JAG program on outstanding finishes at the National Career Development Conference!
Our Project-Based Learning team of Jocelyn Norton, Bri Fugere, and Isabella Swihart placed 2nd in the nation! Our Business Plan team of Avery Hofstetter, Jacob Booth, and Granton Bayless placed 4th in the nation!
BHS Students Excel at State Job Olympics
Congratulations to these Liberators for medaling at the State Job Olympics hosted by Pre-Employment Transition Services from the University of Missouri!

Three BHS Juniors joining The Alliance for Healthcare Education
Congratulations to Rosalie Hatfield, Nora Fuller, and Charles Fagan! Next school year, they’ll be joining The Alliance for Healthcare Education. Thanks to full tuition support from Citizens Memorial Hospital (CMH), they will be earning their high school diplomas AND up to an associate degree in bioclinical science—100% tuition-free!
We are so proud of these students for jumpstarting their medical careers and thankful to CMH and The Alliance for investing in the future of our community's healthcare.
10 BHS Students Interning at CMH over Summer
We are excited to celebrate the second year of the CMH Summer Internship Program in partnership with CMH and BoMo Works!
This incredible opportunity provides 10 Bolivar students entering 10th and 11th grade with paid internships that allow them to explore multiple areas within the hospital through two unique tracks: Patient Services and Business Operations. Students gain valuable real-world experience while learning directly from healthcare professionals and industry leaders.

$9.2 Million in Scholarships

We recognized the Bolivar High School Class of 2026 at our Senior Awards Ceremony! This group of students has been awarded an incredible $9,205,985 in scholarship money!

Bolivar Middle School

BMS Track Shines at Middle School State Meet

Congratulations to our Bolivar Middle School Track and Field athletes for an incredible performance at the 2026 Missouri Middle School State Meet! It was a day of record-breaking throws, fast times, and podium finishes.
STATE CHAMPION! Maggie Hendrickson in Discus with a massive throw of 29.54m! She also took 2nd Place in Shot Put (11.41m).
PODIUM FINISHERS:
Colin Carrel: 2nd Place in the 1600m Run with a blazing time of 4:45.27 and 7th Place in the 800m.
Brielyn Hines: 2nd Place in High Jump, clearing 1.4m.
Carver Bayless: 4th Place in Pole Vault (2.75m).
Jaiden Powell: 5th Place in both Discus (27.33m) and Shot Put (10.91m).
Seth Robinson: 7th Place in Pole Vault (2.6m).
Adalyn Jump: 7th Place in the 100m Hurdles (18.29).
Aileen Wooderson: 7th Place in the 1600m Run (5:52.89).
Kryder Cansler: 8th Place in Discus (37.62m).
Top Relay & Team Performances

BMS TestaPalooza

Bolivar Middle School celebrated the end of testing season with TestaPalooza! A day full of games, food, and fun!

BMS Art Club Field Trip to Nelson Atkins Art Museum
The BMS Art Club went to the Nelson Atkins Art Museum in Kansas City! It was a great opportunity for the students to see art from all over the world & eras. They saw works of art from many of the most well-known artists: Caravaggio, Monet, Van Gogh & ancient art from China!

Bolivar Intermediate School

BIS Perfect Attendance

Congratulations to these three BIS Liberators for achieving perfect attendance this year: Robyn Bender, Landon Noot, and Cheyenne Willis! Way to go, Liberators!
100 Point Club
Congratulations to these BIS students for 100 points of growth on their iReady tests from beginning to the end of the year: Skyler Hansen, Breck Herion, and Locota Stuart!

Communication Boards on Playground

Bolivar Primary School has added communication boards to each of its playgrounds! Their purpose is to help students with a language barrier better communicate with their friends while they play! A huge thank you to Ms. Leigha, BPS Speech-Language Pathologist, and Ms. Aspen Speech-Language Pathologist Extern, Missouri State University for helping make this happen!
1st Grade Goes to Wild Animal Safari

BPS Children's Barnyard

Our Bolivar Primary School students were moooooved learning all about life on the farm at our Children's Barnyard! 
Our BPS students got a hands-on lesson in agriculture, animal care, and hard work! A huge thank you to our BHS FFA members for bringing the barnyard to them!
